Congratulations! I’m so happy you’re here! If you’re considering a newborn session, my Waukesha Studio is a great option.
Natural light, all white and you don’t have to clean your house! I can do sessions in your home too. All I need is good natural light.
All you need to bring is a few favorite outfits, swaddles and headbands. Dogs are allowed in my studio.
My studio has a crib, bed, and benches.
The all white, simple set up keeps the focus on just you and your brand new baby.
It’s never too early to reach out and grab a spot on my calendar! Let’s chat.
Congratulations! Those first few days at home can be a blur. You won’t regret having newborn photos done, but you will regret not having them done! Babies change so much in the first year.
Within the first 5-14 days. There is some leeway… as my style is lifestyle newborn.
Immediate family members are included in your newborn session!
The sooner, the better! Grab your spot on my calendar before it fills up!
Congratulations! You want to schedule a newborn session, but are unsure if you want to have it in your home. Katie Bingen Photography offers Newborn Lifestyle Sessions in their all white, modern Waukesha Studio.
Newborn Lifestyle Sessions take place within the 5-14 day window. If it happens to go slightly outside the window, it’s no big deal. The earlier you reach out to schedule with me, the better!
I recommend a favorite outfit(s), swaddle(s), headband(s) and a white onesie. One advantage of the studio is you don’t have to clean up your house for your session!
A relaxed environment. These sessions are led by the baby. If your baby needs to eat, have a diaper change, be soothed, it is no big deal. Have toddlers? If they need a break, we will switch it up and focus on mom and baby. We will go with the flow. I have children of my own, so I get it! :)

Congratulations! You’re expecting and have a newborn session scheduled for in your home. What happens next?
First off, plan your outfits around you. You want to feel comfortable and confident. Stick to neutral colors and build a color pallet off of your outfit. Don’t match, but coordinate colors. I offer style and select for all my clients to help in planning their outfits. As always, reach out for advice! I’m happy to guide you in the right direction.
Secondly, prepare your home. I typically shoot in the living room, master bedroom and nursery. Sometimes, I’ll use the kitchen too! Clean and declutter these rooms ahead of your session. I’ll be looking for the most natural light, so if there is another room in your house we could use, great!
This goes hand in hand, but the time of day is important when doing a photoshoot in your home. Things to think about… when does my home get the best natural light? I default to late morning for in home sessions as that usually gives the best natural light in the house. (Late morning also tends to work for older siblings that still take naps in the early afternoon.)
Relax. I’ll be coming in the comfort of your own home to capture those first few moments with your new baby. I’ll get a few of those everyone looking at the camera, but my favorite to capture are those in between moments. You gazing at your newborn, how tiny they are in your arms or how suddenly you toddler doesn’t look so little anymore. The session will be led by your baby (or toddler). If we need to take breaks for eating, soothing, tantrums or diaper changes… that is okay! I’m a mom of 3 and get it. :)
Lastly, if you have pets….they will be in your photos. That is all. Can’t wait to meet you and your family!
Haven’t booked your session yet? Get on my calendar!
NOW! Just kidding…but it is never too early to get on my calendar.
All that is required to get on my calendar is a paid retainer (goes towards your session fee) and a signed agreement. Your session date will be scheduled within the first 5-14 days after your baby is born.
Newborn Lifestyle Sessions can be done in home, my Waukesha Studio or outdoors.
Newborn Lifestyle Sessions come with 45+ edited photos with a print release.
The whole (immediate) family is included! (and pets!) Worried about your toddler? Don’t be. I have 3 kids of my own and have seen it all. I love working with little kids and involving them in the session. See the cute big brother above… he jumped right in. ;)

Maternity Sessions are usually scheduled between 30-32 weeks along. We can schedule closer to your due date.
Your immediate family is included in the session! I love capturing your connections with your loved ones during this special time. While we will go for the all looking at the camera and smiling pose, I also want to you to have fun and interact while I’m snapping away. These photos you will look back on and remember how little your son or daughter seemed before the baby. Once baby arrives, it’s amazing how grown up the older siblings seem.
My studio is in Waukesha.

Okay, so you booked your family photos with Katie Bingen Photography. Now the question is….what to wear!?
Each and every client of mine has exclusive access to a styling service. Take the headache out of planning outfits for the whole family. Upon booking, you will receive an email from me outlining how to prepare for your upcoming session which includes how to use this amazing service!
Remember the days of wearing jeans and white t-shirts….and I mean everyone?! Let’s not do that. Coordinating outfits with patterns and solid colors will create a cohesive look. Pull colors from the patterned outfit.
Neutral and muted tones. (Think white, gray, navy, mustard, olive green, maroon, etc.) These tones will photograph beautifully. Stay away from bright, neon colors.
Here’s a little tip….pick out YOUR outfit first! Something you feel comfortable in, feel good in. You will love your photos that much more if you’re wearing something you feel confident in!
Have fun with it! If you ever have any questions or want my opinion, I am here and happy to help.

You’ve booked your Newborn Session with Katie Bingen Photography.
…NOW WHAT?
I recommend sticking to light neutral, muted colors. For baby, bring along a favorite outfit, headband(s), swaddle(s) and a white onesie. A style guide and Pinterest idea board will be sent over upon booking. Don’t overthink it too much! First and foremost, be comfortable in the clothes you pick for yourself. You want to feel your best in the photos!
Newborn Sessions are 1-2 hours. Why are my sessions this long? Babies rule the session. That’s right, if your baby is hungry, needs a diaper change or needs to be snuggled to calm down, don’t worry! These sessions are meant to be relaxed. There is no rush.
Great! The whole family (mom, dad and siblings….even pets!) are included in all of my sessions! Worried how they will behave? I have kids ranging from 2-7. Nothing phases me, I’ve seen it all! Bring along a favorite toy of snack for your toddler. We will start out with family and sibling shots to get their portion of the session done right away. By the end of the session, most toddler’s will want their own individual picture on each chair in the studio (or your living room). ;)
All in all, relax. I’ve done countless numbers of newborn sessions. I have young kids of my own. I love working with babies and your older kiddos! Can’t wait to meet you!
